When John Henry Williams was born on 18 November 1834, in Sutton Forest, New South Wales, Australia, his father, Henry Thomas Williams, was 31 and his mother, Elizabeth Jenkins, was 16. He married Marion Wilson on 1 April 1858, in Willunga, South Australia, Australia. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 10 September 1922, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, at the age of 87.

    History: This surname was brought to North America from southern England and Wales independently by many different bearers from the 17th century onward. Roger Williams, born in London in 1603, came to MA in 1630, but the clergyman was banished from the colony for his criticism of the Puritan government; he fled to RI and founded Providence.
