John Tyra was born on 7 July 1815, in Breathitt, Kentucky, United States as the son of Daniel Tyre and Elizabeth. He married Sarah Gibbs on 24 January 1836, in Morgan, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 4 daughters. He died about 1858, in Breathitt, Kentucky, United States, at the age of 44.

1818 · Jackson Purchase

The western part of Kentucky purchased by Andrew Jackson from the Chickasaw Indians in 1818. It became known as the Jackson Purchase. This included land that wasn't originally part of Kentucky when it became a state.

1819 · Panic! of 1819

With the Aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars the global market for trade was down. During this time, America had its first financial crisis and it lasted for only two years. 

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
