He married Jane Ann Jeffries on 14 June 1740, in King and Queen, Virginia, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 11 February 1788, in Mecklenburg, Virginia, United States, at the age of 76, and was buried in Alexander Boyd Cemetery, Boydton, Mecklenburg, Virginia, United States.
