Brief Life History of Lucy Evelyn

LEBANON — Lucy E. Cruise, 90, died Tuesday. She was born in Sidney, Neb. She taught school in a one room sod school house. She also taught piano in her home. She move to Lebanon in 1942. She owned and operated the Lebanon Paint Store with her husband. Her husband, Douglas, died in 1969. She then operated the Western Union. She later helped out in her daughter's dress shop in Newport for eight years. She was a member of the Lebanon Free Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Pearl Rebecca Lodge, Lebanon. She enjoyed playing the piano. Survivors include her son, Douglas of Lebanon; daughters, Iva Greeninger of Umatilla, Kathleen Braden of Tigard, Dolores Kellison of Newport, Rosalie Hinderer of Tillamook, and Sharon Rauch of Salem; brothers, Elmer Call and Jack Call, both of Utah; sisters, Bonnie Lorenni of West Covina, Calif., and Ruth of Utah; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Visiting will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Huston mortuary. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Huston mortuary. Interment will follow in Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. After the League of Nations grants the mandate for Lebanon and Syria to France, the State of Greater Lebanon is proclaimed. It includes the former autonomous province of Mount Lebanon, plus the provinces of north Lebanon, south Lebanon and the Biqa, historically part of Syria.
