When Samuel Bengtsson was born on 30 December 1798, in Gryteryd, Jönköping, Sweden, his father, Bengt Larsson, was 40 and his mother, Kerstin Mansdotter, was 40. He married Sara Lisa Gudmundsdotter on 19 November 1825. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 20 March 1862, in Askebo, Jönköping, Sweden, at the age of 63.
