When Elias N. Ruppert was born in November 1813, in Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Jacob O. Rupert, was 20 and his mother, Margaret Rebecca "Peggy" Oyster, was 22. He married Lydia Simon on 7 September 1835, in Boardman Township, Trumbull, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Beaver Township, Mahoning, Ohio, United States in 1850 and Springfield Township, Allen, Indiana, United States for about 10 years. He died on 19 December 1877, in Allen, Indiana, United States, at the age of 64, and was buried in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, United States.
