He married Adeline Stevens on 25 December 1874, in Sanilac, Michigan, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Brockway, Brockway Township, St. Clair, Michigan, United States in 1910 and Stemper, Hillsborough, Florida, United States in 1920. He died on 10 December 1924, in Lutz, Hillsborough, Florida, United States, at the age of 76, and was buried in Lutz, Hillsborough, Florida, United States.

1854 · Creation of the Republican Party

A debate continues over the location of the creation of the Republican Party. Some sources claim the party was formed in Ripon, Wisconsin, on February 28, 1854. Others claim the first meeting of the Republican Party took place in Jackson, Michigan, on July 6, 1854, where the Republican Party was officially organized. Over 1,000 people were present and candidates were selected for the party, thus making it the first Republican convention.

Florida has had 6 Constitutions since it became a state. The first Constitution was drafted in Saint Joseph, now known as Port St. Joe. Presently Florida is governed by the Constitution of 1968.

1868 · Impeach the President!

Caused by many crimes and breaking the Tenure of Office Act, Many Senators and House Representatives became angry with President Johnson and began discussions of his Impeachment. After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.
