He married Elizabeth Kerr on 20 January 1814, in Flemingsburg, Fleming, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 8 daughters. He died on 3 June 1835, in Parke, Indiana, United States, at the age of 44, and was buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bridgeton, Parke, Indiana, United States.
