Mårten Nilsson Kvitsle was born in 1662, in Kvitsle, Jämtland, Sweden as the son of Nils Mårtenson Kvitsle and Agnis Jacobsdotter Rönningsberg. He married Gertrud Hemmingsdotter in 1686, in Mattmar, Jämtland, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 15 September 1713, in Ytterocke, Mattmar, Jämtland, Sweden, at the age of 51, and was buried in Mattmar, Jämtland, Sweden.
