When George Haynie was born on 25 March 1800, in Anderson, South Carolina, United States, his father, Charles Haynie, was 28 and his mother, Susannah Hanks, was 22. He married Elizabeth A Roddam on 27 February 1827, in Anderson, South Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Benton, Alabama, United States in 1850 and Calhoun, Alabama, United States in 1860. He died on 16 May 1863, in Alabama, United States, at the age of 63, and was buried in Eulaton United Methodist Church Cemetery, Anniston, Calhoun, Alabama, United States.

1803

France sells Louisiana territories to U.S.A.

1803 · The U.S doubles in size

The United States purchased all the Louisiana territory (828,000 sq. mi) from France, only paying 15 million dollars (A quarter trillion today) for the land. In the purchase, the US obtained the land that makes up 15 US states and 2 Canadian Provinces. The United States originally wanted to purchase of New Orleans and the lands located on the coast around it, but quickly accepted the bargain that Napoleon Bonaparte offered.
