He married Ane Nielsdatter on 29 December 1843, in Jetsmark, Ålborghus, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Stenum, Børglum, Hjørring, Denmark in 1845 and Jetsmark, Hvetbo, Hjørring, Denmark for about 30 years. He died on 17 March 1900, in Roppen, Hune, Ålborghus, Denmark, at the age of 82, and was buried in Jetsmark, Hvetbo, Hjørring, Denmark.
