When Asahel Gibson was born in 1815, in Monroe City, Harrison Township, Knox, Indiana, United States, his father, Valentine Gibson, was 26 and his mother, Catherine Harrold, was 23. He married Mildred M. Abrahms on 10 August 1837. He died in 1890, at the age of 75.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.

English: from the Middle English and Older Scots personal name Gibb (a pet form of Gilbert) + son, hence ‘son of Gibb’. The name is very common in Ireland, having arrived in that country in the 17th century. It is also occasionally adopted for Ó Gibealláin, see Giblin .
