When Hans Jakob Mast was born in 1672, in Switzerland, his father, Friedrich Mast, was 35 and his mother, Ursula Spengler, was 43. He married Anna Wagner on 9 May 1697, in Oberhofen bei Kreuzlingen, Thurgau, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 27 February 1737, in Dettighofen, Thurgau, Switzerland, at the age of 65.
