When Jan Slingerland was born on 13 October 1796, in Bleskensgraaf, South Holland, Netherlands, his father, Cornelis Slingerland, was 36 and his mother, Jannigje Beuzekom, was 37. He married Teuntje de Haan on 3 November 1824, in Nieuw-Lekkerland, South Holland, Netherlands. He died on 18 April 1849, in his hometown, at the age of 52.
