Marion Gregory was born a twin to Mary Ann Gregory. They were the second set of twins born to William and Mary Ann Beardmore Gregory. The family moved to Minnesota from Ohio where some of their children were born including Marion and his twin, Mary were born in Minnesota. The family did move back to Ohio eventually. Marion was blind and went to the school for the Deaf & Dumb in West Virginia where he learned how to use a loom. (I think it's in Romney, W.Va). He never married! I knew Uncle Marion. He would have been my gg uncle. He used to come visit us when I was little and I have to admit I was afraid of him because my cousins would tease me about Uncle Marion taking out his two glass eyes to clean them and I sure worried he would do it in front of me. I'm not sure how true this was but we all know how cousins love to teast. My dad bought a typewriter home and taught Uncle Marion would type on it when he came to visit; I have copies of letter he typed to my grandmother, his niece, Mary Jane Gregory Ross which had misspelled words but really pretty accurate considering how easy it was to miss the letters on the old typewriters of the 50's and 60's. Marion lived with his sister Mary Gregory Fenn; he had an attic area where he had a loom and made rugs which was something he was taught in the special school. I knew he died in 1958 but not how. My dad said he never wanted to be a burden on his sister and died of a broken heart. I found out later from a Ohio relative he actually hung himself on 9 June 1958 in that attic room. I was so surprised I asked my Dad if this was true. He looked at me with compassion and stated Uncle Marion died of a broken heart. I am sure he loved his uncle and that is why dad never divulged the actual way Marion died. In 2010 I had a very spiritual experience with Uncle Marion. I had been asleep and was waking up and saw someone coming towards me with their hands out. As the figure came closer I recognized Uncle Marion and felt his spirit telling me he wanted me to do something for him. I as not afraid! I knew exactly what he wanted and I did do what I felt was wanted. In my true faith in work for the dead, I had Uncle Marion's work done and sealed him to his family. I knew he was at peace and I was very humbled he would come and ask this of me. For those who don't believe in this type of thing I can only say I did what my heart told me to do and am grateful for the opportunity to do this great work of sealing families together forever.

English (of Norman origin) and French: from a personal name that was popular throughout Christendom in the Middle Ages. The Greek original, Grēgorios, is a derivative of grēgorein ‘to be awake, to be watchful’. However, the Latin form, Gregorius, came to be associated by folk etymology with grex, gregis ‘flock, herd’, under the influence of the Christian image of the good shepherd. The Greek name was borne in the early Christian centuries by two fathers of the Orthodox Church, Saint Gregory Nazianzene (c. 325–390) and Saint Gregory of Nyssa (c. 331–395), and later by sixteen popes, starting with Gregory the Great (c. 540–604). It was also the name of 3rd- and 4th-century apostles of Armenia. In North America, the English form of the surname has absorbed many cognates from other languages, e.g. Italian Gregorio , German, Slovak, and Slovenian Gregor , Polish Grzegorz, Czech Řehoř (see Rehor ), and French Gregoire , and also their patronymics and other derivatives, e.g. Polish Grzegorczyk .
