Christen Stephansen was born on 10 July 1785, in Vidstrup, Sejlstrup, Denmark as the son of Stephen Christensen and Anne Christensdatter. He married Ane Nielsdatter on 29 December 1815, in Vidstrup, Vennebjerg, Hjørring, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died before 1834.

The Old Artillery Barracks was the first of three barracks to be established in the Christianshavn district of Copenhagen. They were converted into barracks for the Artillery in 1789 and were used until 1923. Today, they have been converted into apartments and are listed for everyone.
