He married Myrtle Lucy Dunn on 3 November 1918, in Potosi, Washington, Missouri, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Baxter Springs, Cherokee, Kansas, United States for about 10 years and St. Michael Township, Madison, Missouri, United States in 1950. He died on 24 January 1991, in Salem, Dent, Missouri, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Myers Cemetery, Black River Township, Reynolds, Missouri, United States.

1901 · Assassination of Mckinley

President William McKinley was shot at the Temple of Music, in the Pan-American Exposition, while shaking hands with the public. Leon Czolgosz shot him twice in the abdomen because he thought it was his duty to do so. McKinley died after eight days of watch and care. He was the third American president to be assassinated. After his death, Congress passed legislation to officially make the Secret Service and gave them responsibility for protecting the President at all times.

After the Assassination of William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as the Twenty-sixth President of the United States. During his first term he didn't have a Vice President but for his second term Charles W. Fairbanks filled the position.
