She died on 2 May 1883, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Scrubgrass Township, Venango, Pennsylvania, United States.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

A cousin with a different background, Sir William Phip(p)s (1651–95), was born in ME, where his parents had emigrated. Originally a ship's carpenter, he rose to become royal governor of MA.
