When Maren Jensdatter was born on 11 December 1791, in Elling, Horns, Hjørring, Denmark, her father, Jens Madsen, was 45 and her mother, Inger Kirstine Christensdatter, was 31. She married Thomas Christian Sørensen on 25 November 1817, in Elling, Åstrup, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. She lived in Flade, Sejlstrup, Denmark in 1850 and Gærum, Sejlstrup, Denmark in 1855. She died on 2 September 1862, in Gærum, Horns, Hjørring, Denmark, at the age of 70.
