Margaret Steele was born in 1764, in County Dublin, Ireland as the daughter of Sir Richard Steele 1st Baronet of Hampstead and Margaret. She married James Featherstonhaugh in May 1785, in Bracklin, County Westmeath, Ireland. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. She died in 1838, in Bracklin, County Westmeath, Ireland, at the age of 74.
