He married Brita Johannesdatter on 18 June 1843, in Haus, Hordaland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Søndre Bergenhus, Norway in 1819 and Tunes, Haus, Hordaland, Norway in 1900. He died on 14 November 1904, in Tunes, Arna, Bergen, Hordaland, Norway, at the age of 85.
