Petrona de Rivera y Santiago, de Aponte was born about 1699, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, her father, Antonio Rivera de Adorno y Colon, was 20 and her mother, Ana Maria Rivera Colón Santiago, was 31. She married D. Juan Manuel de Aponte y Díaz, Capitán about 1712, in Coamo, Puerto Rico. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 28 January 1763, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the age of 65.
