Buckwalter, was 49 and his mother, Gertrude "Ruth" Schoenholtz, was 37. He married Elizabeth Flemming on 4 May 1834. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Schuylkill Township, Chester, Pennsylvania, United States in 1850 and Davenport Township, Scott, Iowa, United States in 1870. He died on 28 May 1860, in Davenport, Scott, Iowa, United States, at the age of 59, and was buried in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, Scott, Iowa, United States.
