When Carl Bischof was born in 1816, in Thun, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Rudolf Bischoff, was 39 and his mother, Catharina Moser, was 29. He married Barbara Lamper on 10 June 1840, in Switzerland. He died on 31 March 1911, in his hometown, at the age of 95.
