Amanda White was born on 4 May 1823, in Fayette, Pennsylvania, United States as the daughter of Barbara. She married David L. Jones on 22 December 1843, in Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Eugene Township, Vermillion, Indiana, United States in 1860 and Champaign, Illinois, United States in 1870. She died on 29 May 1903, in Ogden, Champaign, Illinois, United States, at the age of 80, and was buried in Sterns Cemetery, Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States.

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
