When Maja Stina Carlsdotter was born in 1764, in Örebro, Sweden, her father, Carl Hermansson, was 25 and her mother, Brita Nilsdotter, was 22. She married Carl A Sjölund on 26 November 1786. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. She died about 3 March 1821, in Vreta Kloster, Östergötland, Sweden, at the age of 57.
