He died on 7 January 1873, in Lansdowne, Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 74, and was buried in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery, Lyndhurst, Leeds and the Thousand Islands, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, Canada.
