When Svend Lauridsen was born in 1624, in Keldby, Mønbo, Præstø, Denmark, his father, Laurids Olufsen Stub, was 27 and his mother, Anne Lauridsdatter, was 26. He married Margrethe Jensdatter on 4 March 1655, in Magleby, Mønbo, Præstø, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 8 daughters. He died in July 1702, in his hometown, at the age of 78, and was buried in Keldby, Mønbo, Præstø, Denmark.

The Royal Danish Naval Academy was established in 1701 to educate then commission all officers into the Royal Danish Navy. It is the oldest, still-existing, officers' academy in the world.
