Maria Eggler was born in May 1718, in Ringgenberg, Bern, Switzerland as the daughter of Hans Christoph Egler and Maria Lärien. She married Hans Balmer on 4 December 1744, in Gsteig bei Interlaken, Gsteigwiler, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. She died on 16 December 1794, in Wilderswil, Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 76.
