When Hans Baumann was born on 22 March 1607, in Reitnau, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Jacob Baumann, was 25 and his mother, Anna Reutlinger, was 21. He married Elsbeth Maler on 23 August 1624, in Reitnau, Bern, Switzerland. He died in 1691, in his hometown, at the age of 84.
