When Pvt Asa Huffman was born on 14 May 1814, in Onslow, North Carolina, United States, his father, Christopher Huffman Jr., was 30 and his mother, Mary "Polly" Pybus, was 37. He married Emeline Ann Levina Pearce on 28 January 1836, in Houston, Georgia, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 28 December 1852, in Jasper, Texas, United States, at the age of 38.

1819 · Panic! of 1819

1820 · Making States Equal

The Missouri Compromise helped provide the entrance of Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state into the United States. As part of the compromise, slavery was prohibited north of the 36°30′ parallel, excluding Missouri.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
