When Maria Eskelin was born on 2 March 1809, in Kuopio, Kuopio, Finland, her father, Lars Eskelinen, was 47 and her mother, Catharina Koponen, was 35. She married Petter Pettersson Korhonen on 3 October 1830, in Kuopion maalaiskunta, Kuopio, Finland. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. She died on 18 August 1894, in her hometown, at the age of 85.
