He married Catherine Ellen Stewart on 2 March 1873, in Leamington, Essex, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Gosfield, Essex, Canada West, British North America for about 10 years and Essex, Ontario, Canada in 1901. He died on 15 July 1910, in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States, at the age of 58, and was buried in Ruthven, Essex, Ontario, Canada.
