When Thomas Cockerill was born on 11 October 1737, in Virginia, British Colonial America, his father, Thomas Cockrell, was 37 and his mother, Elizabeth Ann Ramey, was 37. He married Joyce Lewis on 3 December 1772. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 1 September 1815, in Loudoun, Virginia, United States, at the age of 77.
