When José Librado Chacón Armendariz was born on 10 August 1861, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, his father, José Nicolás Nebano Chacón Lerma, was 24 and his mother, María Del Refugio Felipa Armendáriz Hernández, was 27. He married Lorensa Carrasco on 22 November 1884, in Nuestra Señora del Pilar, Valle de Zaragoza, Chihuahua, Mexico. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 8 daughters. He died on 11 November 1919, in his hometown, at the age of 58, and was buried in Santa Rosalia, Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico.

French forces march on capital but suffer defeat at Puebla.
During the Second French intervention in Mexico, French soldiers entered the city of Puebla to conquer it for France. They were met by the Mexican Army and a battle ensued. Even though the French forces were better equipped and larger, the Mexican Army beat them and gained a boost in their morale to continue fighting. To remember this victory, the Mexican people celebrate Cinco de Mayo (May 5) every year.
