When Juan Gregorio Galarza Bacaicoa was born on 19 May 1767, in Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain, his father, Juan Andrés Galarza Murguía, was 31 and his mother, María Cruz Bacaicoa Ymaz, was 37. He married Maria Cathalina Artieda on 29 October 1794, in Santa María, Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. He died in August 1834, in his hometown, at the age of 67.
