Margaret McGuffin was born on 15 December 1797, in Virginia, United States as the daughter of Samuel Booker McGuffin and Mary E Fleming. She married John Shy on 3 January 1816, in Mercer, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. She lived in Kansas Township, Edgar, Illinois, United States in 1860. She died on 14 February 1867, at the age of 69, and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Kansas Township, Edgar, Illinois, United States.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.
With the Aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars the global market for trade was down. During this time, America had its first financial crisis and it lasted for only two years.
