He lived in Sydney 28A, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1881 and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada for about 10 years. He died on 12 March 1916, in Alma, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the age of 82, and was buried in Alma Cemetery, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
