When Brynjólfur Brynjólfsson was born on 21 February 1791, in Skipagerði, Rangárvallasýsla, Suðurland, Iceland, his father, Brynjolfur Gudmundsson, was 57 and his mother, Sigríður Ögmundsdóttir, was 33. He married Guðný Erlendsdóttir on 13 July 1817, in Vestmannaeyjabær, Suðurland, Iceland. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 26 May 1866, in Iceland, at the age of 75.
