He married Sigríður Brynjólfsdóttir about 1858, in Holt, Rangárvallasýsla, Southern, Iceland. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. He died on 16 October 1911, in Efrirot, Rangárvallasýsla, Southern, Iceland, at the age of 76.
