Sarah Jane Ault was born in 1844, in Loudoun, Virginia, United States as the daughter of William Ault and Martha Ann Thomas. She married John Francis Wortman on 17 November 1868, in Loudoun, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 6 daughters. She lived in Fayette, Pennsylvania, United States in 1920 and Richland Township, Greene, Indiana, United States in 1920. She died on 19 July 1914, in Mount Gilead District, Loudoun, Virginia, United States, at the age of 70, and was buried in Mount Hope Church, Loudoun, Virginia, United States.

1844 · Lumpkin's Jail

In 1844 when Robert Lumpkin bought land in Virginia, this would be the spot of the Infamous Slave Jail (or Lumpkin’s Jail). The slaves would be brought here during the slave trade until they were sold. Lumpkin had purchased the land for his own slave business.
