When Martin Stelter was born on 14 September 1841, in Pidhirne, Akkerman, Bessarabia, Russian Empire, his father, Johann Stelter, was 39 and his mother, Karolina Hund, was 37. He married Louisa Lobe on 14 January 1866. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. He died in 1910, at the age of 69.
