When Abigail "Abby" Wisdom was born on 18 November 1793, in Dartmouth, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, her father, Henry Wisdom, was 39 and her mother, Lucy Scott, was 37. She married Thomas Davie on 12 November 1810, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Cranston, Providence, Rhode Island, United States in 1860 and Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States in 1865. She died on 4 March 1878, in Villisca, Montgomery, Iowa, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Villisca, Montgomery, Iowa, United States.

1794 · Creating the Eleventh Amendment

The Eleventh Amendment restricts the ability of any people to start a lawsuit against the states in federal court.

1811 · USS Revenge

On January 9, 1811, the USS Revenge hits a reef off of Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The load the ship is carrying is handed off to other ships and the USS Revenge is tied down by tow ropes. It brakes free from the ropes and later sinks. In 2011 divers find what are believed to be the remains of the ship.
