When Julia Ann Sampson was born about 1828, in Huron, Ohio, United States, her father, Ezekiel Sampson, was 36 and her mother, Mary Polly Merrifield, was 41. She married Alston Bowman on 6 January 1845, in Keokuk, Iowa, United States. She died on 11 August 1846, at the age of 19.

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
Many people started their 2,170-mile West trek to settle the land found by Louis and Clark.
