When Sione Lamipeti Takavaha Tu'ivai was born on 30 April 1912, in Lofanga, Ha'apai, Tonga, his father, Sitiveni Tuivai, was 33 and his mother, Sisilia Tupoutu’a Lamipeti, was 29. He married Uini Ana Melelopa Katoa on 16 November 1945. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters. He died on 17 June 1982, in Tatakamotonga, Tongatapu, Tonga, at the age of 70.
