José María Saldamando was born in 1785, in Spain as the son of Francisco Jose Fernando Saldamando and Francisca Garay Lorenzo. He had at least 3 sons and 7 daughters with Maria Margarita López. He died on 28 February 1836, in San Miguel Arcángel, Ures, Sonora, Mexico, at the age of 51.
