When Rudolf Frieden was born on 17 December 1836, in Switzerland, his father, Bendicht Frieden, was 39 and his mother, Elisabeth Zeender, was 31. He married Elisabeth Lüthi on 24 June 1869, in Grosshöchstetten, Bern, Switzerland. He died about 1893, in his hometown, at the age of 58.
