When Troels Nielsen was born on 13 November 1810, in Skelund, Ålborg, Denmark, his father, Niels Nielsen Degn, was 32 and his mother, Ane Magrete Jensdatter, was 28. He married Mariane Christensen on 22 November 1833. He lived in Skelund, Hindsted, Ålborg, Denmark for about 20 years. He died on 13 September 1890, in Visborg, Hindsted, Ålborg, Denmark, at the age of 79.
