When Christian Nielsen de Leth was born about 1695, in Ulfborg, Bøvling, Denmark, his father, Niels Pedersen Leth, was 28 and his mother, Maren Christensen Linde, was 24. He married Christiana Charlotte Amalia von Bassen on 25 May 1723, in Bedsted, Hassing, Thisted, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 22 February 1736, in Bedsted, Vestervig, Denmark, at the age of 42.

The Royal Danish Naval Academy was established in 1701 to educate then commission all officers into the Royal Danish Navy. It is the oldest, still-existing, officers' academy in the world.
1713 · Royal Danish Military Academy
The Royal Danish Military Academy educated and commissioned all officers for the Royal Danish Army. The Military Academy function was initiated in 1713 by request of King Frederick IV on inspiration from the Naval Academy.
