When Niels Thomsen Tingsgaard was born in 1793, in Vejby, Skivehus, Denmark, his father, Thomas Nielsen, was 34 and his mother, Mariane Christensen, was 26. He married Ane Kathrine Larsdatter on 12 May 1821, in Måbjerg, Bøvling, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He died on 29 November 1873, in Holstebro, Bøvling, Denmark, at the age of 80.
